The PRC Portfolio.

The PRC is pleased to offer an unprecedented portfolio of photographs by world-renowned artists. Each artist represented in the PRC Portfolio is considered a contemporary master.

The portfolio was produced in a trade edition of thirty-five signed and numbered prints enclosed in a custom clamshell case measuring 20 x 24 inches. The price of the portfolio is $25,000 with a special discount for non-profit institutions.

Interest in the PRC Portfolio has been substantial and more than half of the trade edition has been sold. Copies are already held in the collections of the Addison Gallery of American Art, Center for Creative Photography, DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, and the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, as well as a number of prestigious private collections. In addition, it has recently entered the collections of the Harvard Art Museums/Fogg Museum and the RISD Museum.

If you have any questions about the portfolio or would like to place your order, please email us at info@prcboston.org or call 617.975.0600.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRC PORTFOLIO

(The following is adapted in part from the colophon, acknowledgements, and biographical pages of The PRC Portfolio)

The PRC Portfolio was published in 2008 and distributed by the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University, an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located at 832 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA.

The PRC Portfolio Committee selected the artists and assisted with the communication and logistics. Dr. Kim Sichel, Associate Professor, History of Photography and Modern Art at Boston University , wrote the essay and Leslie K. Brown, former PRC Curator, wrote the biographies.

The individual prints were created under the artists' direct supervision, as is customary contemporary practice, in the medium listed on the following pages. The mat backboards are Rising Conserva Mats and the overmats are Rising Museum Rag. All mats are 4-ply, except the ParkeHarrison print, which is 8-ply. The portfolio is cased in a handmade, clothbound, archival box produced by Portfoliobox, Inc.; the frontispiece, colophon, essay, and biographical pages were designed by Jim Fitts, former PRC Executive Director.

Each photographer received an artist proof edition of the portfolio in return for his or her contribution. Artist proof editions were given to Color Services, LLC and Palm Press, Inc., who were the printers of the editions. Three artist proof editions will remain with the PRC.

In addition to the PRC Board of Directors, the PRC wishes to thank the PRC Portfolio Committee; Color Services, LLC; Palm Press, Inc.; Kim Sichel; and all of the artists and their galleries. In addition, the PRC Portfolio Committee would like to express their gratitude to Marc Elliott and Gus Kayafas for their counsel and support.
