Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison photograph

Born in 1968 and 1964 respectively, Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison are a husband and wife team that create tableaux about an “Everyman,” played by Robert, attempting to save the earth. Combining elements of sculpture, performance, collage, and painting, t hey create all aspects of the environments that they photograph. Their first monograph, The Architect's Brother, was published by Twin Palms Twelve Trees Press in 2000; a new monograph, Counterpoint, will be released October 2008 by Twin Palms Publishers. The ParkeHarrison's work is collected nationally and was recently the subject of a traveling exhibition from the George Eastman House, which was shown locally at the DeCordova Museum. Holding an MFA from the University of New Mexico, Robert teaches at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and Shana holds a BFA from William Woods College and attended the UNM for her graduate studies . The ParkeHarrisons are Guggenheim recipients and are represented by Jack Shainman Gallery in New York. This portfolio image is part of a new series in color.
