The PRC moves to Cambridge! We are Now a resident partner with Lesley University’s College of Art and Design

The PRC is excited to announce that we are now resident partners with Lesley University's College of Art and Design! As we last wrote, Boston University generously hosted the PRC on its campus since 1979 and, this past winter, the University informed the PRC that they intended to renovate and re-purpose our building, where we had been since 2003. From Commonwealth Avenue, Boston to Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge -- our move mirrors LUCAD's move from Kenmore Square to Porter Square --  and now it's the beginning of a new era, just across the river!

We are grateful to Lesley University College of Art and Design (LUCAD) for this opportunity and look forward to growing our relationship with the school and its students, faculty, and staff.  As an independent non-profit, we'll continue to serve Greater Boston and New England, its many institutions, photographers, and photo fans. Our new office space will be in the Lunder Arts Center, LUCAD's brand new art and design facility, located on the MBTA's Red Line. Read Lesley's press release on the PRC move and partnership here, the Boston Globe story here, and the PRC's press release with additional info on both organizations here.

We are working on a new website and e-newsletter system, so please pardon our electronic dust in the meantime!

PROGRAMS

Nights at the PRC

TUESDAY, October 3rd, 6:30 - 8:30pm
Theme: "LO-FI & SLOW PHOTOGRAPHY"
Artist host: Tonee Harbert -
sign up soon!
NOTE LOCATION: Washington Street Gallery
at the Washington Art Center, 321 Washington Street Somerville, MA, 02143

The PRC is pleased to restart our monthly "Nights" series with a special version of our "Nights" program, held in conjunction with the Somerville Toy Camera Festival. We are also excited to report that the kind folks at the Washington Art Center are extending their version of the tri-partite exhibitions -- so presenting or attending is a great last chance to see the show in their gallery!

Do you use lo-fi cameras and a "slow" approach to photography? Then consider signing up to share your work and/or attending this exciting thematic program! The PRC welcomes presenters and engaged audience members to share, show, and speak.

Tonee Harbert's frequent subjects have been people and the landscape of Maine. For his current work, he uses a plastic “Diana” camera to capture mysterious landscapes and surreal interventions of the human touch on our world. Harbert has co-authored and contributed to many books and movies. Harbert's has exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Portland Museum of Art, Danforth Museum of Art, University of Miami, ICA at Maine College of Art, and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. Harbert received a degree in Visual Communication from Ohio University.
