Jocelyn Lee was born in 1962 in Naples, Italy, and received her BA in philosophy and visual arts from Yale University in 1986 and her MFA in photography from City University of New York at Hunter College in 1992. A vast majority of enigmatic portraits are photographed in Maine, where she spends most of her time. In 1997, the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University published a book of John Moses and Jocelyn Lee's collaborative multi-year documentary study and traveling exhibition, The Youngest Parents: Teenage Pregnancy as it Shapes Lives. A 2001 Guggenheim recipient, she is collected extensively and has exhibited in many institutions, most recently in the 2007 exhibition, Presumed Innocence at the DeCordova Museum of Art and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA. Represented by Pace MacGill Gallery in New York, Lee teaches at Princeton University, among other regional institutions. She lives in Brooklyn, NY. www.jocelynlee.com
