Paul D’Amato



(b. 1956 Boston, MA; lives Chicago, IL)

Paul D’Amato received his BA from Reed College and MFA from Yale University. Collected and shown worldwide, he has received numerous fellowships from many organizations including the Guggenheim, Pollock-Krasner, and Rockefeller Foundations and will be an Artist-in-Residence at Light Work next year. Currently, he is Professor at Columbia College Chicago.

In addition to his ties to Boston, D’Amato had a solo show of his work on Mexican Immigrants in Chicago at the PRC in 1992 and was later included in Eleven Artists in 1997. This image originally appeared in the then Somerville-based DoubleTake magazine and reflects his interest in capturing his subjects in pure moments of expression.
