To make the original chemigram, I darken gelatin silver paper in sunlight. I soak colorful ink stamp pads in fixer. I then press a stamp (here a tree image) into the fixer-laden stamp pads. I apply the stamp – now saturated with fixer and inks – onto the darkened paper. When removed, the impression of the stamp remains. The fixer eats away the silver and the inks add color to the image. I scan the original and edit on Photoshop.
