For the past forty years, Henry Horenstein (b. 1947) has worked as a photographer, professor, and author. While at University of Chicago and the University of Warwick (UK), Horenstein studied history. He then received his MFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he now teaches. In addition, his photography textbooks have been used by thousands of photography students over the past thirty years. A prolific photographer, Horenstein has published over thirty books of his work including Show, Close Relations, Racing Days, Honky Tonk, and Canine. For Animalia, Horenstein focused on the essential forms of animals, creating sensual prints that reveal the beauty and mystery of various creatures. Horenstein has work in many major collections, such as the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress (both Washington DC), George Eastman House (Rochester, NY), Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MA), and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (TX) among others. Horenstein is represented by Carroll and Sons Art Gallery in Boston. -----------------------------------------
