PRC’s 2025 Artists-in-Residence
Artist Bio

Sri Thumati is a self-taught photographer and artist based in the Greater Boston area. Having started her photography career in New Delhi, India, Sri has had extensive experience as a working professional in the field for over 25 years. Her proficiency in printing black and white images in the darkroom during high school led her art teacher to encourage her to take her own photos. That experience of watching an image appear under light and chemistry has formed a life long desire to observe and create images using darkroom processes.
While taking classes at Maine Photographic Workshops in Maine, Sri learned about the Cyanotype process. It has since become her primary medium of expression. While working as a freelance photographer shooting with digital cameras became a necessity, Sri never stopped indulging her darkroom skills. Over the past 16 years there has been a slow transition into making fine art, giving her the chance to showcase her skills in galleries and public art spaces.
As a digital freelance photographer Sri has worked with multiple clients in the commercial arena, some of whom continue to work with her. Her attention to detail, composition and love for the medium have encouraged clients to trust Sri’s vision in showcasing their projects. Sri transfers that same ideology into her Cyanotype work. She has participated in juried art shows in multiple towns in the region. Many customers have returned to express how much they love having her work in their homes, bought more work or commissioned her for unique pieces of art and decor. Sri makes one of a kind Cyanotype lamps and lampshades along with her fine art. As recently as two years ago Sri has started to show her work in local galleries and hopes to expand her opportunities there.
