Join us for a special screening of Confessions of a Cool Girl, a deeply personal film by artist Anhkim Dang, presented in conjunction with the PRC’s current exhibition, My Grandmother is an Altar.

Venue : Screening Room at Lesley University Hall (1815 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA).
Event Date : 5/31/2025
Time : 4:30 PM EST
In this moving short, Dang draws from family photo albums to process the silence and grief surrounding her paternal grandmother’s death, and the broader intergenerational trauma rooted in the Vietnam War. Centering the story of her grandmother Nguyen Thi Vo—a woman once labeled a traitor for aiding North Vietnamese intelligence—Confessions of a Cool Girl becomes an act of remembrance and resistance. Through image and sound, the film transforms inherited pain into visual testimony and pays tribute to the strength, sacrifice, and love of the women who came before.
This screening is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
