Program Manager (Part-Time)

The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) seeks skilled and dynamic applicants for the part-time position of Program Manager. A key role, this position has curatorial, educational, and operational duties and supervises volunteers and interns.

The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director, working collaboratively with the Chair of Programs and with the Programming Committee to produce and install quarterly exhibitions and monthly educational programs at the PRC; with the Programming Committee helps steer direction for exhibitions and programs that enhance the mission of the organization, and heighten the visibility of the PRC in the regional, national, and international art spheres. The Program Manager facilitates the curatorial team and guest speakers and administers the department, including budgets and planning; coordinates closely with other committees, and interacts with members, volunteers, and donors.

Founded in 1976, The Photographic Resource Center is a vital forum for the exploration, interpretation, innovation, and celebration of new work, ideas, and methods in photographic arts. We inspire our members, regional educational institutions, and the broader community with thought-provoking exhibits, programs, and resources that support the advancement of light-based media.

The Programming Committee hosts a variety of events each year, both in-person and virtually, including Exposure, a juried annual exhibition, PRC Nights (photo sharing events), portfolio reviews, and lectures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in curatorial and/or arts programming work required. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Art or the Humanities, as well as demonstrated administrative competence, proven knowledge of curatorial and preparatory practices, supervisory experience, and experience in an art museum or gallery setting.

The position requires: excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively within a collaborative environment, both independently and as part of a remote team; organizational and administration experience, proficiency in a digital environment (Zoom, Google Suite, social media and website platforms), flexibility, collegiality, and a sense of humor. PRC event attendance is required; other duties as assigned.

The Program Manager is a flexible, part-time salaried position, requiring 20 hours/week.
Some weekend and evening hours are required when events are scheduled.

Salary range: $25,000 -$35,000

Gallery Attendant (Part Time)

The Photographic Resource Center is seeking a Part-time Gallery Attendant for the VanDernoot Gallery at Lesley University located at 1815 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge.

The PRC hosts 6 exhibitions per year. Throughout each exhibition, the VanDernoot Gallery must be staffed Fridays through Sundays from 12-6 pm. Gallery monitoring runs the entire length of the exhibition. Responsibilities include: opening and closing the gallery, greeting visitors as an ambassador for the PRC, and answering questions about the exhibition and PRC.
