2008 PRC Print Program - Silver Level

Lissa Rivera received her BFA from Lesley University and MFA at the School of Visual Arts in 2009.  Sylvia Plachy, also a past PRC Print Program artist, named Rivera one of "25 Under 25 Up-and-Coming American Photographers" (PowerHouse Books, 2004).  She also was chosen as a "Woman to Watch" for the biennial exhibition at the National Museum of Woman in Arts and included in the Humble Arts Foundation's Collector's Guide to Emerging Art Photography.

A past PRC NEO featured photographer and intern, Rivera went on to work at The Burns Archive and now the Museum of the City of New York.  Her more recent work investigates issues of gender and presentation, while others look at the history of photography.  In this earlier series, "Places of Education," she photographed educational institutions in New England, ranging from public high schools and boarding schools to private fraternity and sorority houses.
