David Levinthal earned degrees in studio art from Stanford and Yale Universities as well as a masters in management science at MIT.  Levinthal is a pioneer of fabricated narratives, which comment on pop culture and history, and crafts miniature tableau using his own collections.  He first explored this in his landmark book with cartoonist Gary Trudeau, Hitler Moves East: A Graphic Chronicle (1977).  Shown worldwide and included prestigious collections, Levinthal has received fellowships from the NEA and the Guggenheim Foundation.  His newest history series was featured in a solo show at the George Eastman House in 2015.

Levinthal often shows locally with Panopticon Gallery and lectured at the PRC in 2009.  Known for his use of large-format Polaroid, this vibrant print is from his highly-regarded series exploring myths of the Wild West, which began in 1986.
