Lou Jones, a self-taught photographer, graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with degrees in Physics.  His work spans fine art, social documentary, editorial, and commercial photography, the latter half of which has taken him all over the world and to the Olympics for over 22 years. His work is shown, collected, and published widely.  His awards include the International Photographic Council of the United Nations highest award in 2000. Jones's books include Final Exposure: Portraits from Death Row (1997) and travel+PHOTOGRAPHY: Off the Charts (2006).

Jones has lectured and given many workshops at the PRC.  He been a member of the PRC since the late 1970s, and a member of the PRC Board of Directors on and off from 1985 to the early 2000s. Traveling often to Africa, he has been photographing for the panAFRICAproject.  This photograph is a little closer to home, a classic New England beach scene in Rhode Island.
