Pelle Cass holds a BA from University of Massachusetts, Boston and works as a graphic designer as well as a fine art photographer.  Held in many public collections, he was the recipient of an A.R.T. grant from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, named one of Critical Mass's Top 50 Photographers twice, and held several Yaddo residencies.  He showed locally with Stux Gallery in the 1980s and now with Gallery Kayafas.

Cass was shown in a two -person show at the PRC, "Northeast Exposure: Pelle Cass and Vaughn Sills," in 2003, after a more than a decade-long artistic hiatus.  This image is from his earlier series in which he utilized printed materials to create collages and assemblages that he then photographed.  In this case, he altered a hand-written quote by philosopher and author George Santayana; in essence, the literal is made abstract.
