1991 godowsky color photography awards MEXICO, CENTRAL, AND SOUTH AMERICA |
February 1 – March 3, 1991 The works of 76 nominated artists from 14 countries in Mexico, Central, and South America were juried for the 1991 Leopold Godowsky, Jr. Color Photography Awards. The jurors were Merry Foresta, then Curator of Photography at the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC) and now Senior Curator of Photography at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, DC); Charles Biasiny-Rivera, then and now Director of En Foco (New York, NY); and Susana Leval, then Chief Curator, and now Director Emeritus at El Museo del Barrio (New York, NY). In addition to the winners, the jurors also selected three honorable mentions: Santiago Harker (Colombia), Arnaldo Pappalardo (Brazil), and Michael Jones (Chile). The 1991 Award winners were: Luiz Braga (Brazil) Héctor Méndez Caratini (Puerto Rico) Salvador Lutteroth (Mexico)
