2004 PRC Benefit Auction
September 24 – October 24, 2004
This preview exhibition, which was on display at both the PRC Gallery and 808 Gallery, showcased over 200 photographs included in the Annual PRC Benefit Auction. Artists included Burt Glinn, Abelardo Morell, Aaron Siskind, Shelburne Thurber, among many others. The live auction was held Friday, October 29 to benefit the PRC and its programming.

Contemporary Vernacular
November 5, 2004 – January 23, 2005
This group show featured contemporary responses to family and found photographs. Artists included Yolanda del Amo, Louise Bourque, Nancy Dudley, Susan E. Evans, Joseph Heidecker, Priya Kambli, and David Prifti. The domestic emerged as the key theme in Contemporary Vernacular, in terms of using and referencing family imagery, as well as imitating and critiquing home display and production. Mixing genres and materials, the works had one foot in the 19th century and another in the 21st century. Curated by PRC Curator Leslie K. Brown, the PRC exhibition was held in conjunction with the BU Art Gallery's exhibition, In the Vernacular: Everyday Photographs from the Rodger Kingston Collection, and the BU Sherman Gallery's student show, Keepsake, juried by Brown, and a showing of Found Polaroids from Found magazine. The BU Art Gallery also held a symposium on vernacular photography, entitled Vernacular Reframed . Significant PRC programming also accompanied the show. 2005 PRC Student Members' Exhibition
February 11 – March 20, 2005
The PRC hosted its 4th annual PRC Student Exhibition celebrating regional talent. The 2005 show featured work juried by the following 13 Boston area photography programs: Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, Boston University, Emerson College, Hallmark Institute of Photography, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Newbury College, New England School of Photography, Northeastern University, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Simmons College, University of Massachusetts at Lowell, University of New Hampshire, and Wellesley College. Land/Mark: Locative Media and Photography
April 8 – May 5, 2005
This exhibition featured artists who engaged photography with location-based media, global technologies, and larger geographical systems. Using the parsed phrase “Land/Mark” as a starting point, the show, curated by PRC Curator Leslie K. Brown, highlighted Boston-area artists Margot Kelley, Brooke Knight, Josh Winer and the new media, global public art project Yellow Arrow, but also pointed to various other exhibitions and events related to mapping all over the city.  Held in conjunction with the 2005 Boston Cyberarts Festival, this gallery showing represented the third time the PRC has joined local organizations in celebrating intersections of art and technology. For the special online component to the exhibition, please click here. 2005 PRC Members' Exhibition
May 20 – June 26, 2005
Each year, the PRC hosts a juried exhibition with a nationally-renowned juror. This show marked the 10th annual PRC Member's Exhibition, which was juried by Dr. Alison Devine Nordström, Curator of Photographs at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. Dr. Nordström chose 14 photographers out of record 271 entries. Artists featured were Mara Brod, Wally Mason, Sandra Matthews, Stella Johnson, Peter Holzhauer, Patricia Kelliher, Ales Hlousek, Jonathon Bailey, Stephanie Wratten, Paul Weiner, Christopher Harris, Dona Schwartz, Kelly Kleinschrodt, and Jamie Lyn Mitchell. 2005 Leopold Godowsky, Jr. Color Photography Awards
July 8 – August 7, 2005
This cycle's Godowsky awards widened to a truly international scope to reflect part of the changed global and photographic communities in which we live. The PRC honored outstanding artists with significant, but as yet unexplored, bodies of work in color photography, regardless of where they live or work. Artists selected were Tim Davis; Anthony Haughey; Andrea Robbins and Max Becher, and Anne Zahalka. The over 60 submissions were juried by Karen Irvine, Curator, The Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago; Brian Wallis, Director of Exhibitions and Chief Curator, International Center of Photography in New York; and Leslie K.
