Meet Carl Mastandrea, our New Executive Director

Carl Mastandrea is a photographer and educator who has been actively involved in Boston’s photographic community for decades. He earned his MFA in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1987. Carl founded both the Boston Photo Co-op, a darkroom rental facility, and the Boston Photo Collaborative, a nationally recognized, community-based arts organization. He has also spent considerable time working with other nonprofit organizations dedicated to the arts.

Carl joins the PRC with a steadfast belief that photography remains both relevant and inspiring—honoring the past while shaping the present. He sees the medium as a powerful tool for bringing people together and views the Photographic Resource Center as a vital space for continuing that work.
